The Organic Baby Clothing company
The Organic Baby Clothing Company is a small, family owned business that specializes in one of a kind originally designed silk screened baby clothing. Every piece we sell is hand screened, using non-toxic dyes onto 100% certified organic cotton garments.
All of our pieces are produced from cotton that is grown in the USA and assembled under fair labor conditions. We produce all of our pieces out of our home studio in Dixon, New Mexico.
We hand mix our own colors and hand screen our pieces in order to insure that the colors we see in our natural surroundings can be genuinely reproduced onto our garments. By doing this we hope to bring some of the beauty we see each day to our customers.
Why Organic Cotton?
Conventionally grown cotton crops are responsible for the use of close to 25% of all insecticides and more than 10% of all pesiticides released each year.
Many of these chemicals were developed as toxic nerve agents during WWII, and have been linked to many forms of cancers.
Despite this effort to eradicate problems for the crops, it is estimated that less than 10% of these pesiticides and insecticides actually accomplish their tasks. Most of these chemicals end up in the surrounding environment and in our bodies.
On top of this, conventionally grown cotton is subjected to harsh chemical treatments, bleaching and dyeing before it is made available to the public.
In all it is estimated that over a third of a pound of chemicals are used to produce the cotton for one T-shirt. Certified.
